IKRAM Care & Relief: East Africa Appeal 2011

IKRAM CARE AND RELIEF

Assalamualaikum wbt

IKRAM Care and Relief UK Eire is launching an urgent donation drive to help our brothers and sisters in East Africa who are suffering from the recent drought.

Let us together help make a difference in their lives. Let us show them that we care.

“You will not attain true goodness until you give of what you love,” (Surah Al ‘Imran, 92)

A small contribution will go a long way, inshaAllah. As we approach the last 10 days of this blessed month of Ramadhan, let us grab this opportunity to increase our good deeds in this holy month. May Allah accept it as 'ibadah and may it be rewarded by Allah abundantly.

Some headlines and excerpts

From Islamic Relief website:

"The drought in the Horn of Africa is affecting over 10 million people from across Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. A deadly combination of successive failed rains and rising food prices has resulted in the worst drought the region has seen for 60 years.

Donate now:

£75 can feed a family for a month in South Central Somalia
£270 can treat 3 severely malnourished children
£920 can provide clean water to 20 families for a month
£10,000 can run a mobile health clinic for 3 months"

UNICEF: 300,000 kids risk death in East Africa

"UNITED NATIONS (AP) — The head of the U.N. children's agency says more than 300,000 children in the Horn of Africa are severely malnourished "and in imminent risk of dying" because of drought and famine...."

From unicef.org.uk

"Right now in Somalia, a child is dying every six minutes. And unless we do something about it, children are going to carry on dying...."
